Choke manifold control console
An API 16C choke manifold control console is a crucial piece of equipment used in oil and gas well drilling operation, which enables to remotely control the choke valves installed at the CKM to manage well pressure and prevent kicks or blowouts.
Key Features, components and purpose

Well pressure control:
The console allows operators to remotely open, close or opening the hydraulic chokes valves which are the part of choke manifold system as per requirement.

Kick and blowout prevention:
By controlling the flow of fluids through the choke valves, the console helps to maintain the well pressure and prevent uncontrolled release of fluids during drilling.

Pressure monitoring:
The console also displays the critical parameters like standpipe pressure and casing pressure inorder to provide operator with real time information.
The pressure monitoring enables the operator to understand the well’s status inorder to use balance drilling techniques.
For sensing the standpipe pressure and casing pressure, piston isolator or de-boosters are installed on the CKM. For sensing pressure upto 10000 psi, 1:1 piston isolators are used where as for sensing pressure above 10000 psi, 4:1 de-boosters are installed on the CKM.

Choke position indicators:
The console also displays the real time choke position that is the percentage opening of the hydraulic choke valves inorder to provide operator with the real time information about well’s status.

Mud pump stroke counters:
Helps the operator to understand the mud pump’s performance and identify potential issues.
JVS choke console
JVS standard choke control panel comes in various combinations:
- Fully SS enclosed
- SS open frame design
- CS frame with SS enclosure
Designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with API 16C with QMS requirement if API Q1.
The JVS console comprises of:
- Rig air connection port
- Emergency operating provisions like:
- Extra nitrogen port (with recommended required no. of nitrogen bottles for minimum 20 cycles)
- Manual hand pump
- Casing & standpipe pressure gauges (digital / analog) with piston isolators or de-boosters as applicable.
- Pump stroke counter (2 pump / 3 pump)
- Choke opening / closing speed regulator
- Choke position controller / DCV (direction control valve)
- Air filter regulator and air lubricator (as required)
- Pressure safety valves
- All tubing and fittings of SS 316 / SS 316L
- Designed for both: Linear type chokes & Rotary type chokes
JVS can manufacturer choke consoles for single choke or dual choke depending upon the customer’s requirement.
Also, JVS consoles for dual choke have an upper edge with respect to normal consoles. That a single pump can be used to operate both chokes as and when required, while the other pump will be always be available in spare. So when if anything goes wrong with pump 1, user can use pump 2 to operate the chokes, so every time customer has a pump to rely on.
